Aeneas

Who Am I?

Aeneas is the son of Aphrodite and Anchises (cousin to King Priam of Troy). He is a distant cousin to the royal family. In Greek mythology he is thought to be the second greatest Trojan hero, behind Hector.

Following the fall of Troy Aeneas fled the fortress; he lost his wife in the escape, himself carrying his aged father on his back and leading his young son by the hand. He wanders for many years until coming to what is modern-day Italy, and becomes the progenitors of the Roman peoples.

The Julian family of Rome, most notably Julius Caesar and Augustus, traced their lineage to Ascanius and his father, Aeneas, and thus to the goddess Aphrodite.
